the connection to roots rock reggae is so friggin obvious...check these tunes out.

Yeah, ali, I can only agree.

The Eastern African sound sure has got an asian vibe to it... I mean, there's already an established connection between Jamaica and Ethiopia (Selassie etc), but I'm thinking that maybe the asian influence in jamaican roots (check Augustus Pablo among others) could be directly related to the music of Ethiopia. On the other hand Jamaica consists of an asian population as well ("chiney")...could be that too...I dunno
