Blessings !
True :Moneys needed and even though me hates money its apart of the reality !
InI doesquite a few gigs just for the sake of it (of course for a good reason, not for someones elses profit)...
InI also raised quite a good amount of money, all for charity causes Rasta focused , last one sent to Ithiopia (JRDC in shashamane, along with a library being built there).
Without charging for InI live shows that wouldnt be possible but, that is InI aim...
Found out quite a while ago that, by giving to the poor and the needy, InI would get twice as much back...InI am the living proof of that...
So, for those reading this, allways remember to share a bit, even if its just your own skills, instead of money.
And, as the old saying goes, dont let your left hand see what your right hand gives away !
Giving thanks
Ras Bruno

Question.....
Two scenarios, choose one............
You are playing a gig at a packed club on a Saturday night, the crowd is totally lame, no one cares about the band, the vibe sucks and the dance floor stays empty but your gauranteed $150 per man for the set.
OR-
Same gig, but the band is hot and tight that night, the dancefloor is packed and the crowd cant get enough, wicked vibes but the pay is only like $20 per man for the set
What would bring you more satisfaction?

Scenario number 2 would...especially since it would eventually lead to the benefits of scenario number 1 ! - Haffe build the fan-base first.

Haha ! Okay, that was funny...but in all fairness, the man's gotta eat ! Even 500 doesn't get far these days. Besides, Horace's voice will bless any dubplate, seen !

I would play scenario #1 out of love...for my family and my children, who need and deserve a good home and food on the table...if, of course, music were my sole source of income.
I love what steve steppa said though, scenario #2 can very well lead to a lot of solid livicated fans and to your ability to demand & get better pay.
Let's be honest. The clubs view reggae (& any other music for that matter) as a way to bring people in so they can sell 'em alcohol, whether you get paid $20 or $2000 depends on how much of it they feel they can use you to sell. In the long run, I'd rather be a better musician than a better booze salesman.
