The only thing I can do is not jump to any conclusion regarding some... (let's be honest)... lack of detail reporting. Where was he busted? You have 5 kilos... and no weapon... riiiight? This man's name was tossed in some news article, with no details... c'mon really?! Now my real opinion... this is a DEA operation... 5 kilos... in MIAMI... are you serious?! What is it... a slow month?! The DEA will track 5 kilos... to get 500 kilos. The DEA is used for what? Busting up large and organized operations... c'mon... 5 kilos?! It really sounds like BUJU didn't want to 'play ball' as an informant to catch a 'bigger fish'... and now he's paying for it. I wouldn't be suprised if all charges get dropped, because it'll still look like he snitched and that's enough to set a whole bunch of life threatning crap in motion... trying to get fools to expose themselves. --------------------------------------------------- Here's the article... what are we really seeing here?!! The Associated Press MIAMI -- Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton is facing a drug charge in Florida. Banton, whose real name is Mark Anthony Myrie, has been in U.S. federal custody in Miami since Thursday. Drug Enforcement Administration spokesman David Melenkevitz said Sunday that Banton was arrested on a charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine. The charge stems from a DEA case in Tampa. An e-mail to Banton's independent record label was not immediately returned Sunday. Banton's ninth album, "Rasta Got Soul," is nominated for a Grammy. The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation launched an online petition protesting the nomination, saying some of Banton's earlier lyrics have advocated violence against gay and transgender people. --------------------------------------------------- This is either piss poor reporting or someone is trying to bullsh!t me.

Buju is a special character, has made some great music that I've deeply enjoyed. If they are caught, or not, does not matter to me. We all know the unique mindset that being a musician puts most people in, that they do drugs to manipulate their lives in the same way that they manipulate sound waves on stage and in the studio. Musicians can't help fvcking around with everything. If there is any group of people on earth who do not deserve to be judged by the masses, it's artists. They are mad, we know not where they are coming from, and they make our spines shiver when we experience their world. If Buju doesn't like gays, or didn't like gays, I don't care because when I hear him going "walk like a champion, talk like a champion, rum pum pum pum pum" with that hard hitting beat I could really care less about political theatre, this is great and now I'm going to dance. End of story.

Most obviously some set up from a gehy conspiracy....
Don`t really see what the deal is to make it fine for artists to drink a lot or take alot of drugs. No need for all that really, and my earlier statement does not pass as any kind of judgement by any means, rather the opposite, time will tell as to what happened here. 5 Kilos is an aweful lot of cocaine..... |

I've noticed that whatever the conversation is in a forum topic, the website finds an ad to match the subject matter. This one is "21 Day Drug Rehab - Be Home For the Holidays, 21 Day Rehab Only $3,500 Down." Never seen an ad for anything reggae related though.
