Heres my point...cant move for ska bands in london..rammed clubs??...and its because the fans not only love the music but more to the point embrace the whole ska "scene" clothes etc...i compare it with rockabilly music...clubs rammed....love of the scene......im willing to bet if i set up a dub night and advertised free beer..no dub fans would show.....apart from El Bib... who all jokes aside and max respect actually got off his arse to come and see Creation play....in summing up...no community anymore...everyman fe himself..sod it im off to play rockabilly....

It was me. With a small axe and comfortable pants.
BLess Yabass- For the record - your tracks have changed behaviors as far as the new world, I have played them for many many many groups of people - none of which would ever bother to get off the couch. :-) With blessings, Denja Last edited by Denja; 07-03-2009 at 10:37 AM. Yaba...
as much as I love dub music, you have to put it in perspective. What is dub music and where did it start ? For the most part, dub is just instrumental reggae from jamaica, and even there not everybody embraced it. (Bob Marley and Peter Tosh weren't the biggest dub fans) I personally find myself listening to more instrumental reggae than singers, and if I were in the U.K obviously I'd want to see Creation Rockers mash it up ! Heck, I'd want to be up there on stage with my melodica ! At least in the U.K you actually have sound-systems and dub venues. Here in L.A, the only dub venue I know of has these amazing shows in the middle of the bloody week ! I've never been because I can't go to a show on wednesday to get up at 5:00am the next morning. Some of us dubheads actually have jobs ! So in the case of Creation Rockers, as brilliant as you guys sound, not everyone can apprecilove it. I recommend backing a few rising vocalists in the U.K and doing short live sets with established soundsystems just to build up the name. Patience, bassie ! Keep the dub music a flow. |

maybe because dub is for introspection and smoking herb?
I donīt know. As a selector I see positive reactions from the people towards dub, but after a while they scream dancehaaaaaaaaall. Itīs like they like it as an appetizer but not as the main dish in the menu.

understand what people are sayin.....yeah steve dub began..because producers couldnt get another killa tune to fill the b side or studio time was tight so...the instrumental began easy option...but what came of it was total creativity....sonny you know we right..bout weed and peace and love stuff...the whole punk movement came about as a reaction to the hippies..
on weed the world looks a mellow place..on speed the brain is asking questions....why do you think the decrimilisation of weed has taken place?..and speed is still illegal?... the government would rather have a load of potheads roaming around lovin each other than a gang of speed freaks knocking on doors asking waaaa gwaaan?...theres no where better to hear a killa dubplate than off a sound system....man i nearly cried when my boy jah observer hired a brixton venue and about 10 dreads crept outta the woodwork to hear him...an this man been around for ovevr 35 years stood toe to toe wid jah shaka..was even in the film babylon..and all that history man couldnt get more than 10 peoples out..sad sad...like i seh dub the forgotten genre..... |

![]() Seriously though, dub has never been the big thing as long as I've been going to parties in Yorkshire (I'm only a young un though). Dubstep, drum 'n' bass and techno is what the kids are into these days. They want to party hard and I guess dub is a bit too laid back for popping pills to. Saying that, there is a dub night in York that gets quite a good turn out, I think it's called Lion Paw.. |
