Thumbs up

Spliffington here from Colly-4-nyah...fell in love with reggae in the early 70s, lived in JA for about 6 mos in '76 and 4 more mos in '78...been in a number of bands since that time, although I seem to go thru this cycle every few years wherein after awhile I get sick of the music-biz sharks, cheap@$$ booking agents, dillettantes, hangers-on etc. & 'retire' from music which my wife loves cos it means (in her eyes) she gets more of me to herself ...but I get so miserable when I'm not playing music that sooner or later she sez, "go jam with your friends or something, you're being too much of a b*tch hanging around here"...so I go jam with my old buds, and say to myself "hey that sounds really good, we should do something with this"...& so the cycle begins anew...prob. why I never really reached too far in the music biz, but I love reggae too much to just play pop and/or covers, so I guess I'm stuck in this 'niche' market...any other musicians here feeling me on this?

I'm pretty old-skool, all I have is a little digi recorder that I play live instruments into except for the drum machine built into the recorder which I program. The keyboard I use is pretty cheesy, with horn sounds to match, but I hope to get a better one soon, or get some decent sound software to get more 'realism' from my horns...I wouldn't mind collabing with good people who have the production or vocal skills that I lack...my dream in all of this is to maybe write a bass riddim or two that will stand the test of time, like the old Studio One riddims that still rule the dancehall 40 yrs. later! Big ups and respect to all the music makers, and nuff nuff thanks to Rob for providing this venue for allawi to share...Moss yu large! Apologies for the long post...

Hi Irish Moss, thanks for the invite, now I have another home for my humble tunes. The site is looking just as good as the radio is sounding ;-)

Yeah, by the way I forgot: Thanks Rob for setting up this site. It's a KILLER and all pages on the web who think they are the reggae central of the web must prove it now. There's a big huge player on that Reggae Internet Stuff, and it's name is Reggae Dubwise Dot Com.

i have not been around for a while due all sort of negative issues
in life at the moment but i'm not blind to see that this place is a
killer, its everything and more that a user of such particular interest could ever need.

Rob has effortlessly managed to pull a site out of his hat while unbelievably bringing into existence a product that surpasses
the mark in nearly every way one can imagine. The past is the past
and so i wont give credits to the other current reggae site even with
its antics that are in secret and could be affecting others.

As soon as my trouble period is over ill be lashing out again
with my music and scribbling my rants and raves all over the
place.
to hear some past tracks then visit and link me up on (MySpace.com - QBase - SE - Hip Hop / Rap / Reggae - www.myspace.com/127beatz)

thanks again Rob. to regather the vibe of what use to be and
the members of both old and new to a new house, for it is the
house of ReggaeDubwise.com | Reggae Dubwise - Gateway to reggae on the Internet.

One Love
KH

by the way Rob i need a BIG banner for this site so i can fly it on the top of my, myspace page too. so link me up

Hi Rob and Everyone here

Just wanted to say well done on the site it looks great, its great to navigate (once you get the hang of it) and most of all it has a really warm freindly atmosphere that I hope will not be lost as the site grows in numbers.

I left versionist some time before all the hoo hah thats gone on as for a long time I did not like the directions it was heading, and the way the forums brought out the worst in me.

I was rude to quite a lot of cool people in the forumn and although thats not the site's fault the atmosphere that was long time brewing there did contribute to the way I behaved so sorry to all the folks I was rude to.

I have quit making music because the sounds that came out of the speakers never matched the sounds I heard in my head. I'm going to post as many of my old tunes up here as I can manage for people to hear becuase if each one gets one listen from someone other than me then thats better than the 0 listens they get sat on my hard drive on a PC that never gets switched on.

The tunes I post are a free for all if any one wants to mix them, play around with them, knick a theme or idea from them please go for it, as long as you send me a copy. I know that my tunes are much rougher than what a lot of the pro's here do, but like I always said I see myself as an Ideas man so if one of them gives someone an idea to make a tune I'd be chuffed to bits

Great site Rob

Peace Mutant
