Default What Mixer?

I need help getting a mixer. I want to use it with Reason to trigger the virtual mixer and possibly some external fx. I feel I don't want to spend more than $400 but would spend more if the difference in the hardware really made it worth it, like if for an hundred bucks I could use aux sends. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty busy but I'll be checking on this tread. Thanks.

I don't know of such a mixer. I had thought that the new NV-10 Mixer from M-Audio would send MIDI info into Reason to control the internal mixer and receive audio out to each channel but it doesn't. Something like a Presonus Fire Studio along with an M-Audio UC-33 together may be what you need to do what I think you are asking.

I think that he is looking for actual analogue channels... though I may have misunderstood. If he is not after an outboard Mixer then just a UC-33 or two would do the trick much cheaper.

get a BCF2000, you can run it in Mackie Emulation so would have all the same features of the Mackie Control at a 10th of the cost. And it has motorfaders

I paid about £120 for the bcf2000 a couple of years ago - I use it to control ableton Live 7 using the mackie control emulation........

this is the way I use it - :: View topic - Free BCF2000 MAckie Emulation Preset

just upload the sysex to the BCF and follow the instructions. You can do it just by choosing Mackie Control in the midi prefs but I like this edited version because you don't need to use Shift or go through pages of presets, its all there on one layer

you can use Huskervu to get feedback & know what you're controlling - http://www.xmlconsulting.co.nz/husker/huskervu.htm

Here are the CC numbers if you want to make your own patch, just select Mackie Control in Ableton preferences in Control Surfaces with your BCF as the input and then in the BCF editor assign the appropriate CC's that you want

Secret Live 6 Mackie Control MIDI Implementation Chart

You'll never have to manually midi learn ever again. The great thing about it is that say if you have 8 tracks with volume faders assigned, if you delete track 5 the assignments will move to the next track (the new track 5, what was previously track 6) rather than them being lost. And you can control any device/volume/send/return without assigning anything.

sorry, I just realised you are using Reason rather than ableton. Should still be possible

Thanks guys. I got a little confused on how things work. I dont think I can use external fx with reason. But the Behringer and UC-33 look pretty much like what I was looking for(wish I did have $1200). I think I'll go with the BCF for the motor faders. Most of all I dont want to use the knobs on my keyboard anymore. Its to hard to be precise, and I cant control the sends because I used up all my knobs on the faders, so I have to use a mouse at the same time while rec and that shizzle sucks.
Also does anyone know why some of the devices in Reason have two macros. I'll reassign a knob but it will still move for example track 5 bass and track 2 level. I'll then reassign the trk 5 bass but it will still move with track 2 level and also with its new assignment. Does that make sense? How do I defeat that? Its very frustrating.
Thanks for the mixer advice.
