Surely you don't mean as one genre?
![]() That would be a really weird combination - the overly religious and the booty shakers sharing a genre. Surely Soca/Reggaeton would work better together? Oh yeah - since you brought the subject of genres up - I just want to point out that by highlighting "Dub and Dubwise" as it is now many people don't notice there is a special stepper dub section. More importantly, how about having a default genre that the songs from all those people who don't bother with a genre don't end up in ACAPELLA just because it begins with "A"? (Sorry that bold looks evil - not my intention - I just think this is an important point worth highlighting) |

Yes it is true! There are tons of Gospel Soca records coming out of Trinidad and other places lately right along with some seriously musically solid "Gospel" Dancehall. Funny that no Roots oriented stuff comes out much from the Gospel crowd.
Alot of the better sounding stuff is coming from Jah Servant. He is working with most of the entire nation of Trinidad and Tobago. |

Well there is the Grace Thrillers who seem to almost be legendary in Jamaica.

Some of my favorites are,
Sherwin Gardener, DJ Nicholas, Emrand Henry, Junior C, Troy Anthony, Prodigal Son, Jadee, Koen Duncan, St. Mathew, Christafari, Gitta Dan, Ziggy Soul, Imisi, Isaac Blackman, Katalys Crew, Jason Mighty. A couple of Reggaeton stars that became Christian and switched from the secular arena are Rey Pirin and Manny Montes-- of course you have Stitchie, Papa San, Judy Mowatt, Chevelle Franklin, Shelly Thunder****, I believe Twiggy, producer Danny Brownie (Mainstreet), Ziggy Soul (already mentioned) who have become Christians and changed their music in this direction. Jadee (formerly sang secular soca) now has him and his band Alter Call. Good Soca! Thanks Admin for the new Genre. Last edited by LionHeart777; 09-24-2008 at 09:19 PM. |

Blaminack I like what Jah Servant as a producer. I assume you've seen the newest CD.
GospelReggae dot COM Sanctified Reggae Store - Christian Reggae and World Music CDs and DVDs In think that there is some good roots in this genre, from Ziggy Soul, Judy Mowatt, Christafari, Katalys Crew, Jah Servants riddims. Also I think Mr. Lynx switched over to more rootsy stuff. Not a fan of these others? Also Mention has some materiel produced by Jah Servant and Mission Epistle too. Some is roots.
