Question URL link to individual music tracks?

Great site, thank you for all the hard work you obviously put into it.

Quick query - is there a way to link directly to a song? I know I can point someone to a url like:
baroquedub at ReggaeDubwise.com | Reggae Dubwise - Gateway to reggae on the Internet
and you'll see all my music but what if I want to send someone to just one track? The 'Song Info' url is no good as the page it opens (usually a pop-up) doesn't include the stream track or download track button.

Am I missing something or being stupid?

... can't find the an edit post option on here either!...

Anyway, the above should read:
"I know I can point someone to a url like:
reggaedubwise.com/members/753/music.php
and you'll see all my music..."
(forum ate my url and turned it into a link)

I wondered about this too. It would be a great improvement if we could link directly to an individual tune.

Baroquedub and Ali
Baroque: First thing wicked dubwise version of Lalibella to go with Sonny's. Totally different perspectives.
Direct Download links.
That isn't an option. I realize why an artist may want it. It's not a smart move on the business end of things for Reggaedubwise.com

By allowing people to direct link the site becomes a music host for other sites to use. I hope you can see how disadvantageous that is from an administrative perspective.

We have an unlimited storage and bandwith here at Reggaedubwise.com
I'm sure you have noticed how fast the upload/downloads and streams have been. Lightning. That is exclusively for Artist and Members of this site to enjoy. If another site could engage direct links to our database, we would become several sites elaborate music server minus any costs and cost us traffic and ad revenue. The other sites would be utilizing our costs for their purpose. This would all be great if it was a non profit site with costs covered. It's not. It's a business and we are trying to make every penny we can. If you love this site, I hope you consider ways to drive your fans onto the site to listen. It's the solitary means of income for ReggaeDubwise.com in week 6 of life.
Business. Fun stuff. Reality.

You could use the stream link to an individual track like this:
http://reggaedubwise.com/play.php?mo...53&song_id=633

or:

<a href="http://reggaedubwise.com/play.php?mode=song_hifi&band_id=753&song_id=633">S tream: Billy Jean Version</a>

This is not good for the sites income but the option is available

peace

IRISH MOSS, thank for the prompt reply.

I don't think I quite explained myself... It's not that I want to link directly to a download (or even a stream, as docremix suggests) but rather that I want to point someone to a page at reggaedubwise.com which only shows the details for one song (rather than all my tracks).

This is so I don't have to point someone to my music page and then ask them to scroll down the list of songs to find the particularly track (something which'll be a problem as the site grows and I upload more tracks)

Does that make more sense? For example, at my own website I can send someone a link to all my mixtapes (the equivalent of an artist's 'music' page):
baroquedub.co.uk/audio_mixes.php
but also to a particular one:
baroquedub

either way that person hits my site and if the like what they find then they'll stick around and check out what else is there (hence revenue if you're running a business.)

Anyway, it's been a great first 6 weeks. Long may ReggaeDubwise continue!

ps. I can't see a "big orange button marked Edit" in the post... maybe it's something that also appears later, after I've made a certain number of posts?

understood Rob but I think that baroquedub has explained what we mean above. its just a single page for each tune to link to that we need not a direct link.
cheers
ali

All the songs should display on your profile player.

fine but as baroquedub said earlier the visitor gets to the player on your profile page where they then have to scroll thru the playlist to find the tune. an additional problem there is that the file name is not always visible due to the size of the player. I have to play the tune to get the song title to scroll on mine.

No problem - these are minor things - the main thing is that the site is here and flourishing. so far so good...........
cheers
ali

PS - I stuck one of those world visitor maps in my profile but the thing doesn't seem to be updating - either that or I haven't had any visitors in a couple of days.............
any ideas??
