Default A (non-comprehensive) list of Dub-friendly Freeware

'Just thought I'd post a list of stuff that might be useful to ReggaeDubwise Citizens. If you've got any others to add, I love to hear about them:
REVERBS
AMBIENCE
Magnus' plugins
A lot of people like this one, although I find it a bit metallic and difficult to control. Having said that, it comes with a ton of presets, some of them utterly bonkers.
GLACEVERB
DASAMPLE - Sounds for professionals
My favourite reverb unit. Very silky sound with great control over the size of the reverb tails.
S.I.R. REVERB
SIR: SIR1
Very cool piece of kit. Instead of “faking” the reverb with virtual circuitry, this one allows you to load a wave file containing a particular room's ambience (called an impulse response) into it so that you can apply it to an audio track. There's a couple of demo I.R. Files available on the website and a couple more at THE INTERRUPTOR: Club Simulation although you can actually load any short wave file into it to create an ambience (a reverbed snare, for example).

DELAYS
BIONIC DELAY, ECHOLIVE, ECHOMANIA and WOW & FLUTTER
THE INTERRUPTOR: VST devices download page
Brilliant hardcore Dub Reggae units. In fact, this guy's entire site, although devoted to Dub, is well worth a read if only for the production tips he includes – although these do range from the blatantly obvious to the barking mad...
ECHOLOGIST
http://www.pluggotic.com/products.html
Lovely and warm, with adjustable chorus, drive and modulation controls.

BUNDLES
KJAERHUS PLUG INS BUNDLE
Kjaerhus Audio - Professional Audio Plug-ins
All the basic kit you'll need, from eq to auto-modulation. Very light on your CPU too.
FREEAMP 3
Fretted Synth
Excellent collection of stomp box-style fx which can be set up in a crazy number of combinations – not just for guitars!!!

WEIRD STUFF
LUXONIX LFX-1310
LUXONIX
A ton of fx in one plug in. Good for “medium weird” sounds as well as standard phasing, flanging, delay, etc.
GLITCH
Illformed Glitch
Quite simply, the big daddy of loony tunes fx plug ins. NINE very different fx which can be used singly, all at once, preprogrammed or completely randomized. Seriously – this thing is f***ing amazing. Slap it on a drum loop or a vocal track, randomize the settings and just listen to what happens. Oh, and it'll do it all in sync with your host's tempo track. Amazing.
TRANSILIENT
LIQUIDCLEAR.NET - Liquidclear's Free VST Plugins
Less options than Glitch, but with a more fluid, organic sound. Useful for odd drum beats and weird soundscape-type pads.

I'm a big fan of the SIR reverb - I've found hundreds of impulse wavs for it on line - very cool vst.

also as you say the interruptor's site is a gold mine for the dubheads around here.

...And let's not forget Tal-Dub; a VERY heavy delay that just cries out to be abused!

Hi guys
I am so frustrated cos I downloaded the Sir Reverb as well as a nice lookin one from the site John mentioned, I think it's called "Ambience" but in both cases they end up being too big and displaying incorrectly on my monitor. I have a 20 inch monitor so pretty big, but still doesn't accommodate those and the bottom of the box where you can hit "preview, apply" or "cancel" is covered up by the last few slide thingies to adjust the sound, which look like they are just not displaying where they should either. I tried to drag the box to be able to get to those buttons. I'm wondering if this is because of the fact I am using audacity, which I'm stuck with till I can get an extra hard drive for space to install Cubase, and wonder how it should look normally and how I could fix it? The Sir Reverb looks like it would be really good.
Bless
Debs x
