I believe yamaha mixers are well integrated with cubase - there was a review of their latest in sound on sound mag last month.

Either that or you will need an Interface with lots of Ins and Outs so that you can route each channel where you need. I am saving to get an Interface and Mixer for this purpose.

Depends on how much youre willing to spend: Fire wire interfaces are quite good nowadays and they tend to be quite cheap...Remember me talking about the yamaha mixer? But they go up to at least 800 quid ( though their integration with Cubase is wicked).
The new Alesis Multimix 16 USB 2.0 is quite nice(allows 16 channels to Computer, fed post fader, thoug doesnt have a high impedance to an instrument) and the price is quite atractive (320£ though im sure you can find it cheaper, as its the recommended price)... Of course this one doesnt has the transport controls that the yamaha has, or even others( with the mackie protocol) but that increases the price quite a bit !
Theres alos a 8 channels version but just 50 quid cheaper (?!).
Im after that yamaha, but its gonna make me bankrupt lol
Ill look for some others soon and post it for you !
Give thanks

What's your goal hooking up a desk ? I mean what do you want to do ? Want to mix the seperate tracks on the desk, hook up outboard ?

To be honest for reggae/dub i'd never go for a digital desk. 1st the budget ones (like yamaha) sound like sh*t. Besides that you can't 'play' with a digital desk, no feedbacking thru channels. Scrolling thru menu's before you get your delay/ compressor. Also in a digital desk the FX and dynamics are software based so still plugin biz. Then i just don't see the point in getting a mixer. Same result you'll get to make an in the box mix.

If you really want to dub... you need a good desk. I would go for the older PRO studio consoles. Save up instead of getting budget stuff. In the end you want good gear.

If you get a multi output interface then to a good anaolog desk... then you have an upgrade. So you can hook up outboard FX to the auxes and do you mix by 'hand' like i do.
There's no mixing in my computer. I only use the computer as a multitrack machine.

Brad: theres a few free courses city and guilds for improvement in techniques, and all stuff production related (basic but good as an eye opener lol)...Ill bring you some info on it !
Theres also some FX cards( phisical plug ins) that would take a lot of the pressure from the cpu(considering it doesnt use so much the ram) and theyre quite cheap... But as i said, after seeing what you have in your studio, a small usb mixer along with a fx card (that will give you the main usable fx's like reverb delay, compressing etc)would leave your studio finished for the purposes you want.
